Sticking to My Values

Business students at UT don’t have classes on Fridays. I like taking this free day to tour companies in Austin or have coffee with people who are way smarter than me. A topic that often comes up is company culture and the values that every employee embodies. The Favor headquarters in Austin has its values painted right on the walls for all employees to see. This inspired me to design these stickers to represent my own personal values. These are the things that get me out of bed at 4:00 am every morning.

Seal round“SEAL the Deal” is my way of saying “Always Be Closing.” I’m constantly promoting Students Expanding Austin Literacy (SEAL) whenever someone gives even the slightest hint that they like working with children. Aggressive? Maybe. Effective? Usually.

 

Own your shit roundOwn your sh*t. Hold yourself accountable for the projects you take on. It’s ok to ask other people for help and feedback, but don’t forget that at the end of the day, you’re the person that’s going to get the job done.

 

Excited RoundDon’t wake up stressed thinking “Darn, I have so much stuff I need to do today.” Shift your perspective to “Wow, I’m so hyped to work on all the things I chose to do.”  Everything on your schedule should align with an end goal you are passionate about, and if not, it’s time to do some soul searching.

 

Boss RoundYou are a kick butt individual and your ideas matter. Be humble, but also be aware of your own awesomeness. You’re the boss, you’re in control of your life, and don’t forget that your peers are bosses in their own right and you have much to learn from them too.

 

Shake roundThings won’t always go according to plan. It may seem like everything is on fire at the moment, but chances are, nobody else will remember that things went slightly off course. Take a deep breath, shake it off, and keep dancing through life.

 

DTS RoundIt’s ok to be a nerd. In between discovering our true passions and scavenging for food, we need to make some room for schoolwork. You’re paying to attend college, so why not learn as much as you possibly can?

 

Coffee RoundIt’s easy to get lost in our own little world as we pursue growth. Treat yourself to a cup of expensive coffee sometime and think about how you can help your peers and people you don’t know yet. With that said, you should totally check out SEAL if you want to help children. #SEALtheDealUT
